There are only a few weekends of summer left, and I’d argue they’re the best ones—long evenings, no homework yet, and the whole neighborhood still outside.

Over the last two weeks I’ve been so grateful for our community. We had the theater filled for our premiere of Providence Perspectives: Tysons 150th. And at National Night Out I got to meet new neighbors while seeing many familiar faces.

This fall, I’m looking forward to keeping the momentum going with our Food Drive and our partnership with Stuff the Bus—these are a great chance to give back as school starts and we get closer to the holiday season. We also have early registration open for Providence Fallfest, our back-to-school celebration. This year we’ll be partnering with NCS and it is sure to be one to remember.

We’ve partnered with Neighborhood and Community Services to host the 2026 Providence Fall Fest. This year's event will be taking place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 11am-2pm at the Jim Scott Community Center. There will be performances, games, and activities for all ages. Staff from various County departments will also be on-site to answer questions and provide resources.

The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) recently completed work on a new sidewalk along Chain Bridge Road between Courthouse Road and Sutton Road, improving pedestrian connectivity between neighborhoods and providing safer access to transit, schools, parks, and other community destinations.

The community is invited to help guide the future of Tysons through the county’s new Tysons Office Designated Areas Planning Study. The study will use community insight and staff analysis to update portions of the Comprehensive Plan for the Tysons Urban Center, which guides land use decisions.

The study will review current guidance for the Tysons Office Designated Areas, which are located at the MITRE campus and areas near the Capital Beltway, Dulles Toll Road, and south of Old Courthouse Road.

The study is evaluating a broader mix of uses in these areas, including residential and mixed use, along with guidance for transportation, parks and open space, environment, and urban design.

Capital One Center’s second annual Celebration of the Arts is an outdoor, multi-block festival taking place September 19 and 20, in the heart of Tysons, Virginia. Presented with Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art (Tephra ICA) and Capital One Arts, this curated experience transforms Capital One Center into an open-air celebration of visual art, music, food, and community.

The festival invites the public to engage with hands-on workshops, immersive art activations, a local artisan market, live performances, and culinary offerings from the region’s most exciting creators. Capital One Center is committed to celebrating the diversity of art in all forms and whether it's artmaking with regional artists, a live “Battle of the Artists” competition, the pop-up “Art Bark” for dogs and their humans, kid-friendly activations, or live music, there's something for every age and interest.
